Unionville Pack &
Troop 169
Mill Creek has been a sponsor of this Boy
Scout pack and troop since 1986. The
church has provided a meeting place when
needed, accepted Eagle Scout projects, given
encouragement and financial support, hosts
an anuual Scout Sunday and has been the site
of several Eagle Scout ceremonies. The
scouts have given back to the church over
the years through many Eagle Scout projects
and the donation of a stained glass window
in the sanctuary. Approx. 400 Boy
Scouts and an untold number of Cub Scouts
have been touched by Mill Creek's
sponsorship over the years. In 1988,
the late Clyde and Grace Tomberlin, members
of Mill Creek, leased land for a meeting
place, the Tomberlin Scout Reservation and
it continues today. A lot of funds and
sweat equity to build the reservation came
from people at Mill Creek. Several of
Mill Creek's current and former members have
served as Scout leaders. The Mill
Creek and Pack & Troop 169 cooperation has
been a blessing to all involved.

Women
*Meets on
the first Tuesday
morning of each month. |
In July 1906, Mrs. F.B. Ashcraft organized a
Women's Missionary Society at Mill Creek.
It started with 6 members. In the one
hundred years since the founding of our WMU, may
great things have been accomplished by dedicated
WMU members. Our ladies are very "mission
minded." Each month there is a project,
along with ongoing projects such as donating
quarterly to the NC Baptist Children's Homes,
cooking and serving Wednesday night suppers with
donations going to the building fund. The
WMU helps with a church wide projects such as:
»
Loaves and Fishes (different
food each month)
»
Lottie
Moon Offering for Foreign Missions
»
Samaritan's Purse-
Operation Shoe Box at Christmas
»
Heifer International
Project
»
Annie Armstrong for North
America Missions
» Offering for North Carolina Retirement Homes
»
Food Roundup for Baptist

» Monthly suppers at the Community Shelter in

The Mill Creek WMU has contributed to our

ways.

Matthews 25:34
& 35
''Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take
your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you
since the creation of the world.
For
I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I
was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed
clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you
looked after me, I was in prison and you came to
visit me.''

Brotherhood
*Meets on the first Tuesday
night of each month at suppertime.
When the term "Brotherhood"
or Baptist men is mentioned, many
folks automatically think of a
Saturday or Sunday morning breakfast
meeting in which men meet, eat and
go home. this, however, isn't
the case at Mill Creek Baptist
Church. Several years ago,
meetings were moved to the first
Tuesday of each month at suppertime.
This accomplished two things:
»
Attendance Increased
»
Preparation to Serve Improved
The brotherhood has always looked
for ways to serve God through the
church, but also to serve the
community and surrounding areas.
Mill Creek is blessed with men of
many different talents. Past
Brotherhood projects have included
such jobs as cutting trees from
someone's yard to building handicap
accessible ramps at homes to totally
remodeling a mobile home and
everything in between. The
Brotherhood built the current Sunday
School rooms between the fellowship
hall and the children's Sunday
School wing, the adult Sunday School
rooms, the church office and the
pastor's office. They have
served in NC flood relief, rebuilt
bridges in the NC mountains and
served many time sin hurricane
disaster rebuilding in Atlantic, NC.
But the main focus of all work has
been God being in the center of
it all. In each project, the
Brotherhood shares their love for
God and the Good News. Come
and join the fellowship, enjoy the
good food, devotion time and
planning the future.
